I wonder why they left Peter Norman out of the statue, was as much a part of the moment as the other two, joining them in their protest (albeit without the salute) by wearing ‘Olympic project for human rights’ badges and pretty much sacrificed his career to support them.

Looks a bit unfinished to me.

I agree. As I explained to my kids, Peter Norman probably paid the biggest price of all of them.

The statue is at San Jose State University where Tommie Smith and John Carlos were students and that is probably the reason why they left Norman's spot empty. I was planning to email the university and ask.

[Edit]
From the Wikipedia article on the protest:

Those who come to view the statue are allowed to participate by standing on the monument. Peter Norman is not included in the monument so viewers can be in his place; there is a plaque in the empty spot inviting those to "Take a Stand." Norman requested that his space was left empty so visitors could stand in his place and feel what he felt. The bronze figures are shoeless but there are two shoes included at the base of the monument. The right shoe, a bronze, blue Puma, is next to Carlos; while the left shoe is placed behind Smith. The signature of the artist is on the back of Smith's shoe, and the year 2005 is on Carlos's shoe.

I guess I should have read the plaque on the podium.

Statue of Victory - Fontaine du Palmier - PARIS-2018-50 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

The Fontaine du Palmier (1806-1808) or Fontaine de la Victoire is a monumental fountain located in the Place du Châtelet, between the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre de la Ville, in the First Arrondissement of Paris. It was designed to provide fresh drinking water to the population of the neighbourhood and to commemorate the victories of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is the largest fountain built during Napoleon's reign still in existence. Wikipedia - Fontaine du Palmier - Wikipedia

Wonderland - Calgary 10th June 2017. We were in Calgary to see the Calgary Philharmonic perform the Planet Suite and were staying in the Marriott Hotel. Upon arrival we requested a higher floor overlooking the downtown core. This is the view we had from the window - Wonderland by the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. The huge statue of the head is at the base of the Bow Tower and depending on what time of day you see it can look different. We have photographed it numerous times including some night shots but these were done with my Canon gear so I'm not going to clog up the forum with non micro 4/3 stuff.
