I had a bit of a search and couldn't find a generic sports thread. Just lots of people asking about the suitability of M43's for sports/action photography.

Anyhoo, figured I'd start with a slightly tongue in cheek pair of shots . . .

    Let's see everyones sports/competition shots . . .

Mod's, please feel free to move/rename if you think this should go elsewhere.

The World Cup 2016 of rhythmic gymnastics is held in Finland this year, and I got tickets from my ex to go see it! The girls were amazing! If you have never seen it, you can't imagine how rough it is.. I had my E-M5 with me in order to get used to it. I normally use the E-P5 but as I got this as a back-up body I thought I should at least know how to use it! I used the 75/1.8 for the most part, but I also had the 75-300 with me. Some of the pictures are quite cropped as it was sometimes too difficult to change from vertical to horizontal position and back in the blink of an eye.

In gymnastics it's all about the technique and perfection of movement, and as I tried to capture that, I wanted to get rid of the motion blur. I had to use fairly fast shutter speeds to get the poses clear, mostly 1/400th and even then there is some blurriness but it's OK. I would've wanted to try some slower speeds also but never got around to do that!

Thought I would add mine after yours Phil.
A real pain in the ....... that I could not take the P100-400mm into the arena but the P45-175 is a good lens (IMHO).
    A mode : S-AF : generally 175mm : exposure 1/1600 and ISO 640

To protect their monopoly and control in who takes images etc, no lens over 200mm in focal length is allowed in any tennis tournament run by the tennis association in Australia - except the accredited pros that they charge for the privilege (?). They also have a load of other restrictions but obviously they have no idea about MFT cameras and lenses. They harassed my wife as she went through security by insisting that she was trying to smuggle in a camera, but backed down when they realised that the box contained highly dangerous Vietnamese tofu rice paper rolls. This highly attentive accolite failed to notice my camera in plain sight - I guess if you pay peanuts you have to expect monkeys.
    Rant off.

Ducked out this morning to try the em1mk2 on some triathlon action.... forgot to take a vND so i could slow the shutter enough to get wheel blur, oh well next time
Lens PL100-400 mostly at 100mm, but it was good to test the lens out
I was tracking for about 2-300 meters before firing off burst, not a lot of cropping

@TonyG@TonyG, I remember watching Bobby Orr play for the Oshawa Generals. I didn't know squat about hockey, but it was apparent that he completely controlled the pace of the game for both teams. Thanks for some pictures that brought back a fond memory.

Went to my first ever game, which happened to be the national women's league. It's a very minor sport here.
