I wasn't sure where to put this. Boats? Waterfalls?...So I chose seascapes and coastal views. This is a little town called Leland, Michigan. "Fishtown" to the locals, because it's home to a small fishing fleet and fish shanties that harvest and bring to market a variety of fish to seafood lovers all over the state and beyond. The Whitefish Pate is unbelievable. In this image, Lake Leelanau spills over the dam and through the harbor on a short trip to Lake Michigan. This year the Great Lakes are setting records for water levels and that is resulting in unprecedented damage. Consider this. In this image the water level just a few years ago was 4 feet lower. As a result of the high water, historic buildings in this area are actually being raised in an ongoing effort to save them. I'll post more of a documentary about this at another time but for now, how would you like to be the guy that has to undock that boat?

Just a couple of short blocks upstream of the dam in my preceding post is this Leland Boathouse.
