    Show Roads, Tracks & Paths

I've seen some great shots of various roads, tracks and paths from glamorous boulevards to suburban streets, from gridlocked junctions to empty country lanes, motorways to cliff-top paths. Straight, winding, dusty, deserted, busy, Route 66, Road to Nowhere or paths of enlightenment – they can all go here.

I can't find a thread for them, so I thought they could do with a home. (Please correct me if there already is one!)

I'll kick off with a few of some quiet roads near where I live. (second two previously posted)

Nice driver's road. And the Alfa Duetto sexes things up a bit too!

Harvey crop that to 3x2 to remove some of the OOF foreground and you'll have a winner

  6. I'm too tired to figure out how to get 3X2 in LR. but here is a crop removing the foreground.

Perhaps not the most photogenic, but these are the some of the best tracks in Australia:

A lane from Dipper Mill towards Libbear in Devon. Often underwater after prolonged heavy rain. We've had heavy rain this morning but it wasn't prolonged enough!

Great thread! It just makes me want to go explore. Here are several from the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route which runs the length of Colorado south to north, mostly on dirt tracks.

While not a steep track, sections there would be potential pucker material with one wondering if/when a sudden landslip could occur.

It was a narrow, steep at times and rocky track going up over a 13,000 foot pass and there was nothing if you went over the edge. Given my limited off-road motorcycling experience, I was seriously puckered up. My buddy, who has been riding all his life, dropped his bike and we had a challenge getting it back up. We were also trying to get up and down before some thunderstorms came in which just added to the fun. It was a memory-making day!

It's threads like these that make me realise that I always have a story to write in my blog about the things that I've done in the past and present, and combine the photos with a bit of navel gazing and history. The previous photos were some from just such a story: http://australianimage.com.au/wordpress/?p=4426.

Some beautiful country, good perspective, great pictures and serious adventuring in that post, Ray! Life's too short to spend it on the sofa...

Thanks, I can never get enough of our High Country and would be out there every week if I could.
