An idyllic scene in mid-Wales.
This is Afon Cerist, a tributary of the River Severn.

With bonus train! Well done, Brian :)
Thanks Roddy.
Yes, in the background is the Llangollen Railway, a volunteer run heritage railway.
Sadly, during the pandemic, it ran in to financial problems and had to go into administration.
To survive fully, they had to sell off some of their equipment, including rolling stock.
Quite a few of their spare carriages were snapped up by enthusiasts keen to have a cool shed at the bottom of their gardens.
Happily, there seems to be enough money (and interest) to keep the whole project going, which would be great, as pre-Covid, they'd even managed to extend the line as far as Corwen station.

Grathemermolen, on the Haelensem Beek, more a creek than a river.

Interesting. I see it was built in 1995 as a grain mill. Couldn't get anything else in English
Do you now if it's still operating?
@Avondale87 Richard,
The mill is a protected monument, and is open to the public.
There has been a water mill on this site since the 13th century.
This mill was converted to a turbine wheel in 1915.
The mill was renovated in 1995 and reconnected to the original cast iron internal workings from 1866.

Thanks Stan for the extra and interesting detail.
I did wonder about the age, but couldn't crack the language barrier reading from my tablet

in a nearby city for a night, Palmerston North. I was wondering where to walk the dog, and then stumbled across this amazing resource. Manawatu Riverside Walkway. I didn't go over the bridge, but apparently there's ten kms of walkway in total. I simply walked half an hour into the cold breeze, then turned and walked back to the car, which didn't take as long, as fewer photo stops.

There's a place I like to call the Rabbits Hole. A riverside that has photogenic nooks and crannies alongside one after the other, if you're prepared to enter the water.

That looks a lot like some sea-trout country I know further south!
Some of the local rivers round here (in Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion) have been famous as superb for sea-trout (called Sewin locally).
I'm not a fisherman myself but it seems as if number of catches are well down, reportedly down to environmental factors.

That River Cerist was so narrow and shallow, I should have tried a bit of tickling. :D
