Sole survivor of 2017 fire that burned my parents home. Now proudly hung in the courtyard of their rebuilt house.

Good reason to take the batteries out if storing equipment for a while, AA batteries anyway.
I got my money back on that lot. So I had a couple of filters, and other odds and ends for free.
Haven't decided yet how I'm going to try to get the batteries out. I'm thinking of drilling holes in them and put a screw in to get something I can grip with pliars. It's not time critical any more. I think it's way past that...
Suggestions thankfully received.

Have never run across any that bad so have no advice on how to start but it sounds like you have it figured out, best of luck!

@Erich_H ,
Those batteries look pretty badly rotted and frozen in place. My first thought is to ‘loosen’ and remove them one at a time. The top batt seems to have the least amt of rot so I’d start there. My first step would be to soften the rot by dropping a mild acid-like lemon juice or vinegar down the side. Wait a while then try moving it. You’ll probably need to do that several times. Remember to give the chems time to act.

When the batt wiggles you can try your screw idea or try driving a screwdriver straight into the end. Twist and wiggle till the batt is really free moving then try removing it by whatever means you choose.

Unfortunately the rot my be so severe the terminals may be damaged/destroyed. You’ll only find that out by getting the job done.

Thanks for your tip! Frozen in place is just the middle name. Getting vinegar out now!
