I don't think they went wrong, at all!
The second one is the best. Ghostly and cozy.

Oh! I didn’t realize that was about food. I thought it was the guys name. I’m incredibly frustrated with the photo. The sign was dazzling brilliant with the intense sun pouring onto the shiny aluminum, fish-like scales. Pixels and grayscales can’t reproduce that.

Sony A230, with a 35 mm lens, culled from a dead Olympus compact point and shoot.
Homemade body cap adapter.
Sold off the A230 (never liked the grip), still got the lens.
