These are from last spring (Australia currently heading into winter) when I had some Thornbills nesting in my back yard (in the tree behind my back steps)

The nest is well obscured in the trees foliage:

But it was the activity which gave their presence away with a steady steam of materials into the clump during building (view from my back "landing)

and then feeding activity

they seemed to have a bunch of "blind" entrances on the upper outer side of the nest which I discovered did an admirable job of detering predators (in Australia mostly other birds, who thought the nest was empty and went away empty "handed")

This was a long way out there, and the heat waves didn't help. The trees are probably 20 to 25 feet tall.
