Backstory: This neon sign was installed on the side of this Victorian pub in the late 1930s, but has been out of action for a decade until late 2018. According to the local newspaper, the pub owner successfully prevented the new city hall from being built across in front of it, in the 1950s. The pub is furnished with wood panelling etc removed from the eponymous cruise liner.

Portage Ave. in Sault Ste. Marie parallels the Soo Locks. The other side of the street is lined with shops, restaurants, and motels from the days past. They do a credible job of keeping them up to date without losing the vintage vibe.
