Hey Rich. Yup, its me.... There doesn't seem to be many of those Raleigh Roma / Wards Riverside / Bianchi Orsetto (same scoot, different markets) scooters around.

Vespa seems to be the catch all name. Its been mistakenly called that many times.

depending on the country it is understandable: over here back in the late ‘70s to the early ‘90s most of the go-to-work mopeds were either of the various smilar looking Cub varieties or similar looking Vespa models so you rode to work either a “Duck” (a Cub was always a duck here, maybe because of how it sounds idling without an exhaust in good condition) or a “Vespa”

over here, before the latest smog regulations, you could buy a new 4 stroke LML real “Vespa” made in India with a CVT or proper gearbox if you chose so

Being a motorcyclist first, I'm not sure how I would feel about a CVT.
When I first bought that scooter 20 plus years ago, the hand clutch / hand shift method of shifting was an interesting oddity to me.
With the art and joy of manual shifting fading away, CVT is probably the way of the future.

Tulip Trestle in southern Indiana, built in something like 1905. Lot older than 1982 Suzuki GS1100GK.

It has felt like ages since we could ride for pleasure (going to/from work was always on) and since the curve has been flattened here in Queensland for a couple of weeks we can venture up to 50Km and soon up to 150Km from home.
