Napier - Ahuriri fishing village. There is a thriving sea going fishing industry which operates from this port, and many amateurs also try their hand. This is only the second time I have seen this kind of net used here. While I'm not happy that all the little fish get caught i great amounts, I do admire the technique. I was pleased to see, that they didn't appear to catch anything this evening.

The angler and the landscape (Waitakere Ranges, Auckland, NZ). Olympus E-M5.2 with 12-40 Pro - a good WR combo for wading around in the water (except if you trip over ...)

Using the ND certainly smooths the lake surface but those pesky humans just dont keep still ...

No idea Wolfie.
I was heavy into my fly fishing from 15 yrs to 35 yrs old. Now I'm 50, and haven't swished a fly rod for at least 10 yrs.
Boat trolling lake Taupo outlet only.
Moving up to Bay of Islands next month. So pretty sure, no more trout for me...
Who is the angler?

Wow - interesting set of coincidences! There's an person using the same user-name as you on a fishing site who is a friend of the angler in the photo (Craig Worthington, writer for NZ Fishing News magazine) - who happens to live in the Bay of Islands ... small world!

Ok. C. Worthington been around for years. Definitely a noter!
I packed up my fly rods, all 12!
Gathering dust now. I do have a lovely double handed salmon job that was gifted me by a Scottish bloke, which I plan to replace the guides and turn into a long distance spin rod.
When I was a younger man I did a S.I. trip, ended up in Fiordland, Hollyford River to the sea. Took me two weeks, the very best fishing I ever experienced.
