Door of a former transformer station. These small towers were built around the beginning of the 20th century and are a common sight in almost every local village. Today there are no longer needed as much smaller, more practical substations can do the job cheaper and more efficient. Local authorities are trying to preserve these towers for endangered wildlife - today they are home for owls, bats and sometimes falcons.

Walking Jl Hanoman in Ubud one is often struck by the contrast between indigenous Bali and the so western influence of consumerism. This was one such image that caught my attention one evening on the way to dinner.
