Great set, Lyle! I'm so glad you followed my Ottawa photos with these. I really want to go back to Montreal some day with my Olympus gear - in particular, to the big churches. I visited once before, but lacked a camera that could take proper indoor photos. As of then, churches became my primary sightseeing objective - and my interest in photography grew accordingly. My micro four thirds kit started with a PEN Lite and 9-18, which I'd shoot at iso2000 indoors just as you did. Only without your skills! The more practice I get...

Our trip to Montreal was in 2014, part of a cross-country drive and cruise: drive from home to Toronto, fly to NYC, cruise to Quebec City, back to Toronto by rail, drive home again. I got distracted from processing the photos of the trip after Quebec, and only recently “rediscovered“ them during this pandemic lockdown. Still have plenty of images left to look through!

The E-P5 was my second m43 camera. I started with an E-PL5 about a year earlier. I don’t know how Ottawa was, but the Montreal church interior was dark! The only “fast” glass I had back then was the P20, but it wasn’t wide enough for the cathedral. I probably should have used it anyway and stitched images together. At least the ibis in the E-P5 was more help than the 3-axis Pen Lite, although it did suffer from shutter shock back then.

Yeah, it was really dark when I visited, too! I remember that being very intentional following an elaborate panoramic video tour.

In comparison, one church that didn't challenge my camera (and the photographer) so badly was the cathedral basilica of Marie-Reine-du-Monde (Mary Queen of the World) and St. James the Greater:

Chapel at Station du Mont Lozére - Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D8-06 by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

At the settlement of Station du Mont Lozére is this quite modern chapel. There was no signage so I was not able to determine if it is was inter-denominational or Catholic.

The design appears to be very much reflective of the location and the environment.
