Brother of the VW Beetle. It's a 1937 Mercedes-Benz Coach Decouvrable Type 170 H. The car's similarity to the Beetle is no accident, as both were designed by Ferdinand Porsche. The Beetle was designed first, but the 170H went into production first. Seen in Cité de l'Automobile, Holden, France.

Something about a gigantic blower on a small block V8 with a decal in LITERS doesn't sit right with me. I mean, I love the metric system as much as the next guy, but that's a damn Olds 403, not a 6.6l.

Great shots. Is that the Cine Ektar again?

By the looks of the front bumper, we’re a 1979 or newer. There was 6.6l version of those; my brother owned one. Albeit, without the ridiculous super charger lol

I think these got the Olds 403 V8 in maybe '77–'79. It's a period correct engine, that's not my beef. It's just calling it a 6.6l rather than a 403 is what chaps me. Just cuz it's accurate, don't make it right. ;)

I blame Jimmy Carter.

You must’ve really hated it when Ford Mustangs had 5.0 written all over them ?

Thanks, This was the 63mm, f2.7 - I believe only the f2 are Ektar, this is an Ektanon which is a level below I believe (Anyone that knows for sure what Kodak's 40s to late 50s 16mm cine lens nomenclature is welcome to tell us for sure).

I am just happy that blower is as high as the fins on the '59 Caddy behind it.

OK, Google is our friend:

https://www.pacificrimcamera.com/rl/01458/01458.pdf

Ektanon Lenses - moderately priced, Ektar-absolute top quality and they only show a 63mm f2 as an Ektar lens.

---

For a "moderately priced" lens, it does OK, I think. (on the other hand, if you convert it's price in 1950 to 2021 dollars, this was a $1,500 lens - so more expensive than today's Olympus 45mm 1.2)
