It is winter in Australia - the weekend before, racing had to be extended well past sunset due to various red-flags through the day. Lights were needed, but thankfully not in this instance.
That's interesting, there's something unusual about the headlights - the post-1967 DS had a headlight cover. It looks like that was removed and the headlight bay painted to match the duco? I like it. Edit: I stand corrected by a DS-nerd friend here in Australia, who informs me that's how they were manufactured for the US market.
I remember going to the Mosport race track in Ontario as a kid and watching Don White and Mario Andretti racing these massive dodge Chargers. Andretti had flipped his during practice a day or 2 earlier so was racing without a rear window.
