Maybe those are reserved for the oil sheikhs visiting Berlin.View attachment 857136
Personally I can't find any interest in these modern cars, let alone those covered in gold.
Never have I ever had any interest in seeing the sinuses of a car. I still don't. Did someone at the BMW design department photograph the designs through a fisheye lens? On the plus side, it certainly makes the gold paintjob seem less garish.

I had a Zetec powered Birkin S3. a riot of a car is a very good description. It was also a very fragile car. When people ask my why I drive an old Alfa and how I can handle dealing with such a car - the answer is always - had a Super 7 before - this is a lot more usable and reliable...

This is actually set up for daily driving. But insurance keeps it home most days. They would cover it as a '32 Chevy, not as a work of love and art. So if it were in an accident, they would give him the value of a '32 Chevy, not much. Sad.

They do sell hot rod and custom car insurance. If he can't get replacement value form his current InsCo. he needs to look elsewhere. Hagerty is a national firm that specializes in it.

I don't suppose there are many (if any) of these still on the road.

There is one sedan in the nearby town, used every day, I shall try to take a photo

🙂 Wartburg 353 Tourist. My father in law had a yellow one.
The local advertisement song still echoes from my pre-teen years,
in free translation from greek:
”Get the Vaartboorgh for 5 seats,
economy, resilience, comforts.“
showing a happy family getting in the (word for word translation from local reviews)
”the Mercedes of the poor”.
Not this ad.

When I was a pre-teen kid a carpenter neighbor had one in white color and he gave us a ride 1-2 times. I still remember how the 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine purred and how smooth it felt - not a suffocating leak in this one like in another example of an in-laws friend 🤢

Excellent Bumper Overriders there.

Love me some 2CV. My Father was a serial 2CV driver when I grew up and my first non-Jeep car was a 1969 Citroen Ami 6 Break (which is a 2CV in an uglier body).

I remember being a teenager, finding a 2CV Sahara (twin engined 4x4) that I hoped my father would buy. Unfortunately, he never did - and that was a mistake as they became big money since.

Beautiful weekend in Northern California, time to take the Miata for a spin. These shots were from Tilden Park near Berkeley, and yes - I need to get the dimples in the front bumper fixed... but not too bad for 183,000 miles.
