I wonder how many Batmobile's are out there. Had one in the Virginia Beach area not too long ago.
I replied to this in another thread. Custom car builder George Barris built four of them. The original one was steel and the other three had fiberglass bodies. The steel one was out here in Arizona but I am not sure where it is now. I have since found out that there may be two additional replicas built by fans. The Classic 1966 TV Batmobile

This was shot one year ago in the Va Beach area. I wonder if it is the #1 Batmobile since it has the roll top dash, opening trunk and hood, and was privately owned in Virginia.

That would be the Bat 1 which is the steel body car Obviously after it was restored and the fuzz Barris had sprayed on it during a lapse in his decision making capabilities, was removed. There were a few other non original mods obviously made such as the shift lever.

I had some time to kill in Washington DC today and stepped into the History museum and saw one of the GM EV1's. I always thought this car was and engineering tour-de-force and would have loved to have driven one.

Unable to purchase an EV1, I did end up with the Electric Chevy Volt which happened to be partially designed by some of the original EV1 designers. Another Engineering Tour-de-Force IMO.

Yep!! The GM EV1's were never sold. They were all let on a lease and when the leases were up they were all collected. I had heard that they were all destroyed but obviously there are still a few of them around.

The local "cruise night" is themed - and this weekend had old race cars from the old Carlsbad raceway (since re-used as a business park).

Unfortunately, land has become so expensive around here that the closest race track is more than 2 hours away (which is the main reason my old race car is no longer used as such).
