You wanted boats? :whistling:
Here's a varied selection, all taken on a walk around Bristol's Floating Harbour.

Remember when it was normal to sightseeing? Despite my reprocessing with a vintage profile, this was only a year or so ago.

Hi Richard. They all seem to be loaded to the max, probably paid per tonnage.
Looking at your nostalgic sightseeing boat, all the bilge pumps seem to be running at full capacity, think I'd rather be on the barge.🚢 😊
I think he's referring to the freeboard. It looks like the lower deck is designed for access from a dock. The gondola section has another few feet of freeboard available, even slightly higher than the raised decks at each end. If water washes over the lower deck it will just run off.

Here's a Great Lakes version of the same thing. It's becoming more popular to have a specialized tug move large barges than a self-powered ship. These two, the tug Victory and barge Maumee were built for each other and are articulating. How would you like to be on top of that elevated bridge when there's a storm?

My knowledge of barges is limited to a very drunken holiday with two mates on a narrowboat.

Made our way down the Oxford canal and got onto the Isis (this was before Isis was even a thing). Our plan was to head to London, however, about two minutes wrestling with a narrowboat on a (relatively slow flowing) river was enough to convince ourselves that this was a terrible idea.
