If I were the Coast Guard, I think I'd suggest placing a keg or two on the fantail for balance. Short of that, they may want to consider renaming her 'Nautilus' and prepare for silent running. "Whoop whoop...dive, dive, dive, blow forward tanks, give me 10 degree down bubble".

No Wake Zone

The Great Lakes are breaking historical records for Lake Levels. Here, a local marina's service road is all but unpassable except for high profile 4 wheel drive vehicles. With a forecast from the Army Corps of Engineers calling for another 6 inch rise by August, this and many other marinas, lakefront home and business owners are in for some soggy times ahead.

I suppose the old saying "I never didn't go golfing because the weatherman said it might rain" would apply here. The forecast today was showers ending about 9am. It rained all day. Undaunted, these sailors and powerboaters make the most of a midweek Michigan June afternoon today.

Great shots of one of my favourite locations.
Can I please ask where you took them from, as you seem to be on an elevated position above the water, especially the 2nd shot.

Thank you. I'd like to say I was wearing a hover-jet backpack, but they were all taken from pedestrian accessible locations along the river. The second was taken from the little swing bridge. You know, the one where people regularly modify their vehicles by failing to negotiate a route through the width restriction barriers. Those barriers have seen many tears shed.

Have you had a butty from Brunel's Buttery? They are the stuff of legends. I had a sausage and egg roll and dripped runny egg yolk all over my G80 and 12-60. That was a messy cleanup operation.

I've never been on the Matthew but yeah, that would be great. I see they do a trip along the Avon Gorge and under the Suspension Bridge. Good call!

Yup, I know where you mean now.
Sadly Brunel's Buttery has always been closed when we've walked past (usually mid-winter).

Your last shot has just cut off our favourite pub: The Nova Scotia. A proper pub inside and great (cheap) food, from the seemingly ever-miserable chef.
It'd had a repaint outside the last time we were there (Feb) and I think the pictures qualify for this thread.
The mural is on the building just outside.

The colours just pop on the last picture!!! I thought you were in Newfoundland !!
It certainly doesn't look like the "grey" Bristol I remember. Thanks for sharing.

I've just checked my files, as I had a feeling that that photo was taken using one of the Art Filters on the E-M10.
However, I think it was a straight shot and it was this one that I had the art filter on.
(Though I may be wrong ).

I've never been in the Nova Scotia, we'll have to check it out one day. I don't venture into Bristol that often. My wife worked on Harbourside for many years though (no, she wasn't a docker!), so it was the last place she wanted to visit on a day off. She wanted to visit an art gallery there last week, so we made the most of it.

The area has seen a lot of redevelopment in recent years. It's now more focused on recreation (bars and restaurants) than a working dock.

In my dim and distant past we used go drinking at the "Fleece and Firkin" which at the time was part of a small group of "firkin pubs" before it's expansion into a mega-chain it is now.
