Curious: what's the story behind it?
I have no idea why it has been left Darek. It was behind some outbuildings. The owners of the land have just built a huge house on the land, perhaps they haven't got around to clearing the site.

An abandoned house in our village. Getting out onto the balcony through the door at the first floor is not recommended.

Delving through my archives I came across this photo from one of my visits to my hometown of Runcorn, in Cheshire.
La Scala wa originally built in the 1920's as a cinema but was converted to a ballroom in the 1950's.
Thousands of romances must have started in the impressive building and I know of quite a few people who regularly visited.
When I was still a lad in the early sixties, pop concerts were held there and amongst the famous were Gene Vincent and yes, unbelievably.......... the Beatles. They performed one of their earliest sets there in 1962 and the cost of entry was 3 shillings. That's 15 pence in today's money, which I think equates to about 20 cents. I wonder how much an original ticket would be worth today.
In the 1980's it was converted into a Bingo Hall, and it finally closed in 2006.
As you can see, it had fallen into a state of disrepair when I took this in 2010, and it was demolished in 2012.

What do you mean? I understand that a certain amount of demolition prep work was done before the collapse, could this explain what you are seeing?
Sorry, missed your reply.
Unless it's an optical illusion the beam looks compressed, deflected. See screen shot. It would take a massive force to bend those beams I imagine.
Bottom flange looks straight but not the top

Gotcha. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do know that the site suffered from several fires in the last decade or so, maybe there was once a higher level that has long been collapsed? This is a good week after the most recent collapse, which blocked a road and train lines for a bit. Guess the beams could have been cut during before those walls and ceiling were pulled down.

Hi Rose, can I just ask how close is the nearest settlement to that building.
I imagine it's so far out that people had to drive to get to it, or it just relied on passing trade?

There's a few houses nearby, and I think a Playcentre, a pub/cafe, and mainly farms. I'm hoping it will be overcast tomorrow, and I'll go back without the dog, and take a proper wander around. There may even be a school. I was time limited as it was about 28 deg Cent and the dog was over heating .... I left him the car with aircon on to get these. It's about half an hour probably from Waipukarau, which would be the nearest larger town, and maybe 3/4 of an hour from Hastings which is probably a city.
