Just picked up a Pany 100-300. So should I keep my OLY 40-150? Not sure it's worth yet another lens in the bag to cover 40-100 range.

Depends. The gap between 40 and 100 is pretty huge, and the 40-150 covers a very different area, and will be usable, say, in cities for architectural detail where the 100-300 probably starts off slightly too long and moves on to being ridiculously long.

And the 100-300 is pretty big and heavy (for m43). Will there be times the shorter lens will do and you won't want to drag the big one along?

Don't have a 100-300, but do have a 70-300 which is big and heavy while the 40-150 is small and light. They have different roles for me. I can usually bring the 40-150 in a pocket or small bag even if I have only one lens on my PEN. The 70-300 requires full photo junket packing, which means I might as well have a whole bag of gear if it's leaving the home.

Unless money is a factor I'd vote to keep it. I picked up the 45-200 on a deal but am keeping the 40-150 both as a backup and to mount to my 'backup' camera.

As others have noted it does give you the ability to shoot 40-100 which the Pany does not, and is lighter. If the Pany is damaged or lost you would have something in hand to use until the Pany was restored.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Thanks all!
I am used to hauling around a 1DMKII with either the 70-200L 2.8 or 100-400L (both with IS) so to me the Pany 100-300 on the G3 is TINY!
I may hang on to the shorter telli a while longer. With tution coming due money may be a factor in the future.

What other lenses do you have? I loved my 40-150 R but sold it since I also have the 14-150. I plan on getting either the 73/100 - 300 sometime in the future.
