I usually like cameras in black and I always buy them in black..... until last week, when I picked up a silver E-M5. Doing some research in the last week for a fast prime-lens, I narrowed it down to the Panasonic 20 1.7 and the Olympus 17 1.8. I decided to go with the Olympus, and had planned to get the silver one (of course, it's a silver camera) yesterday at my local dealer. The sale-price ($100 off) made the decision even easier......

Last night I checked out the lens in the store, the first time I had it in my hand and on the camera. As expected, I loved the feel, the auto-focus, the classic 35mm angle, but surprisingly I didn't like the color. The shiny silver of the lens looks very different from the matt silver of the E-M5, looked to me that someone tried to match the color but failed....... Then I checked out the black copy, and thought it looks very nice.....

Long story short: here she is! She is used every day and is doing a fabulous job, she feels great in my hand, she looks (IMHO) very nice with the 17 mounted, and she hates when I call her "she". Give me a few days with this new outfit and I will post some pictures...

I have the opposite; a silver 17mm on a black em5. They only had silver at the time when I bought the 17mm

Isn't camera porn great?! Does indeed look awesome, Jan68! I have the black/silver E-M10 and with any small lens (mine are all black except standard 14-42mm from my old E-PL5) looks quite the same and always gets attention when people see it!

    Hi Jan!

    Nice looking rig!

I prefer the silver/black E-M5 look - but that wasn't available when I got mine so I've got the 'basic black' model. It's O.K., but yours has that 1960's SLR look. Very chic!

I wouldn't have initially thought of that combo either (until I saw Amin's setup). I do now think it is the coolest color combo for the E-M5!

You'll find it gets even more silver over time as the paint on the black metal areas gets rubbed off.
