It's a bit of a learning curve / remembering what you can and cant do with the files, or which light will give you the look you want from the ccd. And there are some modern conveniences sorely missed in a 2005 model Dslr.! But i think I'm falling in love with the D200 as a total package, for both it's quirks and its abilities, lol.

Well, that was the premise for taking the original photo.
However, I imagine the majority on here would be more likely to be tent-owners, campers etc, rather than castle or stately home owners.
So, for me, it's the latter who are "the other half".
As mentioned, i tried a straight jpeg comparison. It's not really apples to apples, the K5 is several levels of sensor development better and 6mp resolution higher, ( and in truth it's one of the great sensors imo) . If i can find one, a Canon 40D or similar would be a better comparison.
But anyway.
D200 with 35/1.8 at F/4
Pentax K5 with 35/2.4 at F/4 .
The Pentax probably has the more accurate colour , but i've never thought CCD strengths were colour accuracy, more the "feel" of the images. (Incidentally, on the rear screen the D200 sky looked aquamarine!!)
But anyway.

Fire department training, 2001. Shot on a Kodak NC2000e, with a whopping 1.2 megapixels!

That’s just such a cool shot regardless of the camera you got it with. But wow, great job.

Imo, the whole "film-like" school of thought for CCD is real , and I think a lot of it is in the texture present in many shots. It's a more "moody" look in my mind, or at least I find myself preferring CCD in some situations. And it's often in grittier scenes where the colours soften and mix.

As with everyone's photos, they look even better with full size RAW files on our own monitors.
