Going through some old files from 2017 and thought I'd post these of Valley of the Fire State Park, Nevada...from my Sony A6000 days!

Not a huge fan of the Pentax K-5 on-camera flash - doesn't seem as nuanced as the Nikon or M43 stuff I have. At least there is a decent amount of latitude in the files.

K-01 speed is still soooooo slow and it appears to have developed the wierd shutter issue the K-30 is known for. Fingers x-ed its just intermittant. The 15mm f4 continues to impress - pretty sharp close up, and I mean very very close.

Giving the Pentax K-7 some exercise with the 50mm f1.8 DA - the camera has some quirks but it takes great images, is very responsive and feels great in the hand. Anyone looking for a cheap way to dip into the K-mount could do worse than checking out a K-7.

K-5 & Sigma 17-70mm f2.8

Of course birds show up to berate the cat just when I remove the 100mm and pop on a lower-reach 17-70mm. Sigh. I guess the slow focussing and graunching noise of the macro would have scared them off anyway.

More from the K-5 & 17-70 - seems to perform much better on the K-5 than the K-7 this lens came with. The first is a very close wide and the second is at the macro end.

Blast from the past... I just got a new SSD and have been shuffling around a lot of older files and folders in order to get rid of my two remaining HDDs. Of course I couldn't skip a trip down on memory lane.

A compressed view of old town Bingen (Rhine) on a nice summer day, taken with my D300 my Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 - a lens which I was very proud of and got new for almost a bargain when I was randomly browsing a big electronic store. I got the D300 on pre-order and it served as my only camera until mid 2015 when I sold all my Nikon stuff in order to buy intro Micro Four Thirds with the E-M1.

Even longer ago is this shot from my newly acquired Nikon D2h which replaced my Nikon D70. I got the D2h for a bargain price off a press service which was replacing their lower resolution cameras. It was in very good condition and I was very proud getting a professional DSLR at such a low price. The ICE-TD trainsets pictured here are actually fully diesel powered and quickly became a financial burden for the state-owned railway: Not only they were pretty unreliable from launch, but they were highly uneconomic, a trainset had to be fully booked just in order to get a tiny bit of profit for the run. The trainsets have been out of service since a few years and are currently being scrapped.
