K-7 & 40mm M-Pentax - practising a bit, get the feeling the focusing is a little off but most of the time its OK... may just be old age...

My experience is leaning toward that the camera detects near the two ends of DOF. I seem to get better focus when focusing from infinity. I have a difficult time solely focusing manual lenses through the viewfinder. Pentax K-X.

Cheers - will experiment some more. Usually the focus confirm is pretty good - I've mostly had the 50mm macro on here which has been pretty good at macro distances as well as the short-tele end.
