This poor thing is just about still standing, despite the ivy doing its best to overpower it.

Ever since I came upon this tree a few weeks ago, I've had a tune stuck in my head (I think it's known as "ear worm") and it's been driving me mad. The tree in the photo is nowhere near the one referenced in the song, with the whole of the Atlantic Ocean in between them.
Have a look at this and see if you can guess the song (and here's a clue - it dates from 1913, became widely-known in 1937 and then became a bit of a hit-sensation (especially here in the UK) in 1975.

Have you guessed it yet?

Clue no.2: It's "Way out west".

Clue no. 3: Think Laurel & Hardy.

Clue no 4: The one in the photo is NOT in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Yes, of course; it's "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine".

Whistle or sing along with me and you'll have it in your head for weeks too. :whistling: 🎤 :dance2::laugh:
