Snow Geese and Slopes

Whidbey Island was one of my favourite places to work. I worked a Douglas Fir plantation there I think UW managed. Just gorgeous. If I won the lottery, I would definitely return.
I assume you have lovely photos of the Olympics from the sound? Just a stunnign view. Wish I hadn't destroyed my camera hiking about the forests at the time

The image above was taken on Fir Island, which is a large delta island (covered with farms) at the mouth of the Skagit River, east of Whidbey Island. Great soil there from all the river silt. A large population of snow geese and trumpeter swans winter over on Fir Island, gleaning in the fields. It is a popular photo destination because of the birds. The day I was there, the main group of birds was about half a kilometer from the road, in private and muddy fields. I posted my best view of the main flock (with thousands of birds) in the huge panoramas thread. But there are stragglers and small groups like this spread out for miles around, including a few on Whidbey Island.

I like as is.
Shows opposing motion.
The classic windmill, the dead tree bowed to the wind, with the foreground grass appearing to bend in counter direction.
I can appreciate cropping too but then it loses part of the overall ambience or mood
