In Scotland they nominate trees for "Tree of the Year". I wonder if this has been a candidate or winner? If indeed it is in Galloway and not south.

It's the famous sycamore at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian's Wall, so not in Scotland but in Northumberland. Sometimes called 'Robin Hood's Tree' because it appears in the film 'Prince of Thieves'.

I remember the movie, though the “Men in Tights” version was better, because at least that Robin Hood had an English accent and PatStew! Somehow the blockbuster one had an American Robin and a theme song by a Canadian.

My girls have just put the Disney version of Robin Hood on. Now that’s the complete opposite: a handful of key characters have English accents, Marian’s maid has a Scottish accent, and everyone else has American accents. Weird.
