The 2021 Insect Season is officially open in France. This is a European Fly-Mimicking kitchen butterfly, very rare and very colourful. First thing I have seen this year.

More importantly, I have proved to myself that the P45-175 with double stacked Raynoxes (250 + 150) can work. It will be mightily interesting to see what this combo will do in good natural light in the spring. I am off to find a rare fly-mimicking spider next. Stand by to be bored later in the week.

It really IS the first insect I have seen, too :)

Do you have a basement? We do, and just earlier this week we found what we call a "demon cricket." On first glance, they look like big fat spiders, and on second glance, they are just really ugly crickets. Mrs Darmok hates them, my youngest daughter catches them, thinks they are cute, and feeds them peanuts.

Out trying out my E-M1 Mk2 with the 40-140 Pro & MC14 converter - and consider my self lucky to have got this shot with just enough DOF as I was shooting at only f4 at close range at 420mm (35 equivalent) ...
