Butterfly Unidentified #1 - Kemenuh Butterfly Park, Bali, Indonesia by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

My first unidentified butterfly from our visit to the Kemenuh Butterfly Park.

We spent a fair bit of time exploring the Kemenuh Butterfly Park in Bali, Indonesia. I can highly recommend it if you are in Bali and in the Ubud area.

Caterpillar Unidentified #1 - Kemenuh Butterfly Park, Bali, Indonesia by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

My first unidentified caterpillar from our visit to the Kemenuh Butterfly Park. Apologies for the photo quality, really needed a macro on this visit but didn’t have one with me (not planned).

These (mosquito) things have been the bane of my summer shooting outdoors! Sprayed this one out of the air with Black Flag three times. Still crawling around 15 minutes later. :hmmm:

Not having much luck with DEET or Picaridin. Bought some Thermacell thing from Dicks Sporting Goods that uses butane for a heater and some pad of something that is supposed to drive them away. I waved it around close to my ankle and it just flew around the other side out of the fumes and landed on me. Any wind and they stay upwind or find another way to get to you. The Thermacell "15 foot repellent barrier" ad is a bit misleading with any breeze at all. Electric zapper didn't work either as they seem to avoid the blue light.

Got one or more in house that bit me 11 times one night while sleeping. Another followed me into the car. Damn things are thick this year. ?

Try some lavender oil. Smells nice and works for us....
