When I am about 3000 images behind being up to date my favorite kind of procrastination is to go and idly click through lightroom and see if there is anything even more ancient that I never posted or got around to fixing up or learned how to fix up since. Some from early this year at the latest and lots earlier I think.

This is just the stuff I tried to blast through as fast as possible though, there are like 4-5 sets I haven't really touched yet that I think are some of the best pictures I've ever taken that I'm trying to think about a bit more than usual. There's a huge migration of caper white butterflies on that I've got a tonne of them feeding and sleeping from, I got some of an evening brown butterfly, I got some of a painted lady butterfly (these latter two are seriously a pain to photograph without them flipping out and I got right up in their business for several minutes), I got some of some weird ritual the orange tail bees do on my swamp hibiscus that again was a thing where I could take 1000s of pictures over days, I got a whole bunch of neat ones of ladybugs with the polarised setup, I got some neat ones of some birds. So I wanted to just clear the other stuff off first before I got bogged down too much in it


edit - and of course working so fast means half of the stuff got uploaded from the wrong location without sharpening or denoise on it siiiigh I was wondering why some of those ones in the bee thread looked a lot more ordinary than I remembered

There's a huge migration of caper white butterflies on

Millions of butterflies flutter through south-east Queensland skies

actually so large as to be newsworthy as a thing. Seriously I went down the back of norman creek this afternoon and there were swams of 100s of them every few square metres all around me fighting for roosting positions. I found one - one single one - of them alone on some grass a few weeks ago, just before it woke up in the morning, and thought I had hit a jackpot after it let me take a few dozens of photos of it
