A series of shots of a grey fantail, which was preening its feathers between catching insects (the small balls of light around it). It let me get slowly closer for a while, before moving away.

These fantails are quite curious birds, and almost constantly in motion, so I was pleased with the opportunity. However, while I was happy to get any shots, I am not pleased with the actual outcome - but I'm practising better techniques and settings. EDIT: I noticed after posting these unedited photos that I was shooting at full zoom, which I don't usually with this lens, so perhaps that was part of the reason for my unsharp results.

I think this very elegant scrounge had just finished a pile of putrefied perfection, was busy ruminating and in no hurry to fly. The turkey vulture posed thru 2 lens changes.

Blue wrens are never far away, but they've become more noticeable lately!

Well, Harvey, it had its wings out, so maybe it was thinking about - wishing, even - that it could fly?! ?

I've never seen Eastern Rosellas on my property before this year - that's not to say they haven't come here, as I have seen them a few kilometres away, but it was a delight to see them. They're one of my favourite Australian parrots.

This female seems to have taken over control of the feeder from one of the males. She must be sending him a message ?

Roseate spoonbills have been spotted in unusual locations this year. Here's one at a local park

At first I only saw two white-naped honeyeaters, but then I watched more come to drink on top of the tank. Honeyeaters are boisterous, snappy, fast birds, so I was pleased with this shot. SOOC.
