I apologize for my choice of the word "native" prime. What I mean is, why don't you use the Canon EF 600mm f4 with just the Metabones Smart Adapter, or a Viltrox, without the speedbooster and the 1.4x extender? That latter combo adds several layers of glass that probably degrades AF speed and IQ.

When you use the 600 f4 with the extender you get an 860mm f5.6. When you put the speedbooster on you get a 600mm f4 again. Does this combo add something special that you could tell us about or is it just that you only have a speedbooster to do AF and lack a straight AF adapter?
Hello,,
I have just read on metabones smart adapter and found the AF tends to be the same as the speedbooster so in that case the ultra .71 is a good opt since it reduces the aperture providing more light and also i have seen that the sharpness is at par even at that focal length if i use 600+1.+.71 speedbooster on the MFT. Even with the Native 300f/4 honestly i have not seen this sharpness and details with such dof.

I primarily bought this adapter to use it for video purpose to mount canon ef lenses to my gh5 later i found i barely use it and it was lying idle.
Bought speedbooster two year ago never used but occassionaly i keep using it just to test .

Its only single af use no to c-af though but if the adapter you r saying can hold better c-af rate then i may sure look at it.
CAF doesn't work well with metabones adapters in my experience. but if the focus is quick to find a target you can get by with SAF in many cases. I used to do BIF with MF lenses, so SAF is an improvement...

Must be great to shoot birds from a long distance that the 600mm affords. Do you hand hold or put that bazooka on a tripod?

So many great shots with the 50-200. Were you in a hide?

A few of the shots are through a window but most are just the result of well stocked feeders, brave birds and cropping. The feeders are close to the house and over time the birds have become accustomed to seeing me in their space. I never did much birding until I got the 50-200; I had previously owned the Panasonic 100-300 but it never inspired me to shoot birds. This lens did from the day I mounted it.

Cedar waxwing, which is a new bird on my site list, and there were 7 or 8 of them flying about today, possibly courting. Mrs. Darmok was very excited. She's always wanted to see one!
