@Barking Lovely Kingfisher (?), but sadly it seems that you always miss focus and get the focus on the background with you Kingfisher photos, maybe you can try another focusing pattern?
Thanks for your observation...I'm set to spot metering but that doesn't seem to give me the sharpness I'm looking for... will try manual focus to see if I can hit the sweet spot..

Metering area and focus area are two different settings, Jeff.

Set your AF area to centre, single point. Experiment from there if needs be.

First owl encounter of 2021! My wife happend to spot this Barred owl while we were driving down the road today, it was perched on a branch about 10 ft from the road and hardly payed any attention to us. Good thing we were already birding earlier and had our cameras with us!

I couldn't find a dedicated Share: Hummingbirds thread.

After moving the feeder to the front yard almost two years ago, where there is much better light, they've finally started to hit on it.

My pleasure. I don't know your keeper rate with your current setup, but I have seen tons of G9 + Leica 100-400mm lens with fantastic results. If you haven't used your gear very long, I think you should stick to it, my two cents. It took me about 3 month with EM1 III until I landed with the settings that efficiently work for me.

It's almost 2 years since I bought my G9, and the PL100400 was bought earlier. I do managed to get some in-focus BIF shots with the G9+PL100400 setup but the keeper rate is quite low, probable less than 40%. Some shots are with the bird in flight completely within the focusing area in the frame but the camera just refuse to focus correctly.
With a 70% keeper rate it will be a great improvement to me.
However, for perched shot, the setup perform very well.

My first time birding at the local estuary with my "new" E-M1 MkII and 40-150 Pro and MC14. Very pleased to get some swallow shots as they zoomed past just above the sand. Was using C-AF with 3x3 grid, electonic shutter on L mode. I found the viewfinder worked very well compared to my E-M5 MkII.
