Wish I had more variety of birds here, but I got a family of Mockingbirds that run everything off except the hummers which dart around them.

Fwiw, I shot the young male hummer with a couple of Godox (Adorama's house brand, Flashpoint) AD600 Pro TTL studio units in HSS mode with Phottix 11" long-throw reflectors. One had a diffuser on it as I was just playing around and you can see the dimmer on in its eye.

Problem was it was 95 degrees out and the black flash units have fans that come on to cool them down. Not wanting to waste battery power, I loosely taped some aluminum foil on top of them to reflect the heat which seems to keep the fans from cycling as much.

The foil's shiny side seemed to fascinate the male hummer from the reflection he made in it, that or he wanted to fight it and run off his image as the males seem to claim the area. They don't seem afraid of the flash units at all and spend more time looking for their threat from above, i.e. another dive-bombing hummer. The larger blue California Scrubs are more skittish of the flash units though and will jump, but they are skittish with the Mockingbirds attacking them constantly too.
