Saw this beautiful red backed fairy wren yesterday with his breeding plumage on.

Angus that's so nice.
Very nicely photographed in its natural setting

Is that around your locality?
Australia is truly blessed with our beautiful range of Fairy Wrens and the mainland fares the best there.

Thanks! It's a short walk from my place and then a 7-8km circuit that I try to do a few times a week.

I've seen a lot of finches, cockatoos and rainbow bee eaters along with koalas and wallabies, but yesterday was the first time I've seen fairy wrens there.

I try to do the circuit as often as possible and I generally won't leave to do it now without my camera bag on my back.

I rent and my last place had this beautiful poinciana tree that attracted all sorts of parrots. I miss that tree, but going birding at my new place means I get a couple of hours exercise a day which is a huge win.

We're so lucky and underrated with our wildlife here.

Usually I don't find great blue herons hanging out on top of buildings, much less an office building after work hours, but I'm not gonna judge.

Another image with wider FOV (attached only) for reference.

I went out today to photograph a sailing regatta. The atmospherics were terrible for the perch I picked. I was too far away and there was too much moisture in the air. I was a little disappointed until this guy flew by. As for the regatta, I did manage to get a couple of semi usable images, but the regatta runs through the weekend so I'll wait to see if I can break away to compile enough for a nice set.
