Lovely bird!
But grainy, I know you use DxO PL4, hopefully the Elite version because the Elite version has the DeepPRIME Noise reduction, I suggest you try it on this picture. (NR in DxO PL4 can be found under the details tab.)
I am brand new at DX0 PL4 and pretty inexperienced at digital processing in general. I did buy the Elite version so, I'll go back and figure out the Deep Prime tool and experiment with that. Thanks.

Since you are new at it I have to mention that the changes that DeepPRIME will give you only can be seen in the exported picture except for that little preview window under the tool button.

The DxO Photolab 4 is out now thread contains a lot of info.

FYI example for ISO 2000 (it's under third tab from left; you can adjust strength with the Luminance slider)

Oh, and a couple images of the same blue heron, different shots. Not the best pics this time but I'm happy!

I tried using Deep Prime. To my eye it looked best with luminance cranked up. Here is the result;

I had just figured that out by looking up a youtube tutorial between reading your two posts, but thanks. I'll also check out that thread.

A few more back yard test shots from my Oly 100-400. I know, I'm like a kid with a new toy.

I seldom do bifs, but got the opportunity the other day, two of them are shitty, but one ok. And then a gem for me - the rosefinch. Love them.
Thanks for looking.
