Saw a few Eagles here in Maryland. Practiced some BIF with the 300/f4. All of these were cropped.

Well... Catching up on this thread. Looks like I'll be absent again for a while-the forum software informed me that I've used up my quota of "likes" and "winners." I have a couple "wows" left...

I shoot primarily on Manual mode and use Auto ISO ranging Auto to 6400. I think I will want to change it to be from 200-6400 kudos to Mital post.
I use ESP metering. I would fix the metering in PP. I know it isn't the same, but it is good enough for me :)
I also use SS or Aperture to adjust the exposures and agreed with Mital about needing to adjust EV when bird are against the sky. Otherwise, I always end up with lots of dark images!!
@Darmok N Jalad - I'm no where near the level of @doxa750 or @atomicmak , but I make my birding attempts having setup my C2 mode to be Manual with AutoISO & ESP metering. On the E-M1.3 I've set one of the front buttons near the lens mount as the exposure compensation while holding and rotating the back dial. The +/- multifunction button next to the record button is re-mapped to be the focus magnification for static birds.

On my 1.3 those buttons are assigned for focus target point switch. where i toggle between single big af target and 3x3, 5x5 quickly..

Interesting, I have been using the function lever to do switches between AF targets. That's probably a carryover of my brain being mapped to using the lever for autofocus activities. I'm used to switching AF between single and continuous in my other shooting modes and keep the bottom front button assigned for face detect on and off in those modes. The flexibility is amazing

I agree it is more over a personal mindset option to choose where you want which function to catch. When shoot my weddings i go plain venilla profile as i dont really have to realy upon any of these but yes for bif and static birds now I am getting used to it. And yes it takes time to get adapt to it as well. 😃

I think I was a bit early on my timing for this shot, but I'll post it anyway.

Birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

My daughter found a chickadee nest inside a hollow spot in a tree. Both mom and pop were feeding the younglings.
