One of the real benefits of the new near/far settings in the G9 is when a bird is in a busy bush. Here is an example without the near far setting the twigs and the leaves near the tail of the bird would have for me been the focus area in many cases.

Yesterday afternoon I had a flock of Little Corellas drop in for an afternoon feed. I love corellas, so cheeky!

A friend look at the photos and told me "Black-throated green warbler". A very jumpy bird looking for tiny insects on the branches.

While trying to make these photos I was missing focus due to my usual single point and recompose method. I was failing miserably at getting the bird in focus between the branches and leaves and when I did get the focus and tried to recompose a bit the bird would be gone. Hopefully, I will fare better with the new EM1.3's focus point joystick after I learn to use it.
