The local tribe hosted a pow wow this weekend that was open to the community. It brought in dancers and drummers from other tribes throughout the northern plains. Great atmosphere and colorful pictures. Here’s a handful of my favorites.

So this isn’t my usual genre, and it was nice to get outside my comfort zone a bit. Also, because I’m lazy, these are all SOOC jpgs with only some crops or straightening applied. Thanks for looking.

I always associate frybread with Navajo in the SW. What are the trad. foods on this Tribe? I'd guess wild rice is one.

I don't think frybread is really a "traditional" food of any tribe. More like a cheap staple invented to use the ingredients at hand on the reservations. I know that it is broadly available throughout the various Plains Indian reservations throughout Montana (Blackfoot, Chippewa, Cree, Crow, etc.)

It's definitely no one's idea of a healthy food, but it's darn tasty.

I didn’t just eat funnel cake...I did have a bowl of wild rice, corn, bison meat, onion, and there were probably a few more ingredients in there. It was tasty, but I chose this over the clearly more popular “Indian tacos” due to the lengthy line.

Great images! I wish I'd known about this, I definitely would have popped in for some frybread. It would have been a great opportunity to put the 75mm through it's paces.

Thanks! This would have been a good event for the 75mm, but the lens I really wished I owned for this would’ve been the 40-150 pro.
