This has happened to me more than one time.

I was working in Shutter Priority mode with the jpg color set at iEnhance 1

I wanted to change the shutter speed and I could not access that adjustment.

I noticed three little fishes on the lower right of the screen and when I checked my settings ienhance 1 had changed to 2 (Vivid).

I moved the top dial away from shutter priority and then back to shutter priority and my proper settings returned.

I have no idea why that happened or what those three fishes on the lower left of the screen mean.

Got my answer on the dpreview Micro 4/3 forum

Thought I should share it with E-PL1 users who may have a similar problem.

It's all related to the programming of my Record button - if I accidentally pressed that when trying to zoom in those fish would come up. I just turned that button off.

And the inability to change certain settings like aperture, shutter speed and exposure bias is directly related to using the smaller focus box. Once you click the zoom button to access the smaller button the cursor buttons are used for moving the focus box. You have to press the OK button to release the move function.
