Leica Box for Lens Noctilux 1.2/50mm | eBay
An empty box sold for $2000?
I will never understand Leica fan boys ...
Wow! There's probably a sucker out there who will buy it.
Here's the price of the lens, or someone's attempt at it. An original box could easily add 10% to the value to a collector. Crazy but true . The f1.2 Noct' is incredibly rare.
I would find that box at a thrift store and spend the rest of the day looking for the lens. The asking price for the empty box is more than what I paid for my first 3 cars (combined!).
But you guys don't get it - it's a full-frame box!
Okay I realize it's coming from Poland but $45 to ship an empty box?
I'm assuming they are insuring it for that price. Imagine trying to argue that one with shipping company who crushes your irreplaceable EMPTY box.
"Yes, I paid $2,000 for an empty box. There was no lens inside."
"Oh, so no lens was damaged, then why have you filed a claim?"
"Because the box is no longer worth $2,000"
Leica has no appeal to me, even if it costs the same as m43, I take AF every time.
Good for you... sounds like you made a good choice then...
Not all Leica shooters are collectors... btw.... You'll find many examples of inflated collector items on ebay.
Same here, but I don't think M43 boxes are AF either...
Could THAT be the scam ? Insure an empty box that you sold for 2000$ and then make a claim because an empty box arrived ???
Or, am I to distrustful ???
LOL - and consider you are having this conversation in a foreign language.
A really poor person will never understand how one of us can shell out $900 for an E-P3
It's all relative
Lets see, very rare lens. Sells for $20,000+ add in original box bought for $2000, probably add $3000 to the price. Keep the lens for 5 years. Probably worth about $30-35,000.
The world record for a camera sale is 1.9 Million Dollars. For a Leica of course.
Or you could buy some Greek debt, or invest in the stock market.
Leicas are free. Buy one (used and not digital), use it for a few years, sell it for at least what you paid for it
In fact, the way used prices are going I'm sorry I sold mine when I did.
The Leica "haters" will never understand nor appreciate this
Yeah well I'd jump on the hate-wagon, but I know that deep down it'd be all about my envy. Oh who am I kidding just blow the dust off the surface and its plain to see "I WANT ONE!!!"....well not the box, but certainly - no, "longingly" - its contents.
Rats. Just missed it..
But really. This is a rock solid investment. I just sold a 90mm Leica lens for 25% more than I paid for it. Total time of ownership was two months. I laugh at you puny little stock bonds.....
Fair points about Leicas holding their value. If I was to delve back into film, I might consider one to see if there really is pixies dust in the glass....and also to be able to say, "Yeah, I did that."
I think what gets me about this is the fact that it's no longer about photography. But hey, it made TOP!
