Showcase Seagull 58mm f/2

    Picked up this lens (and the SLR it was attached to, a Seagull DF-1) from a sweet old guy in the streets of Beijing.
    It was essentially a Chinese clone of a Minolta SLR and uses an SR mount so it adapts nicely using an MD to :43: adapter :)

    Looks like another clone of CZ Biotar 58/2, down to the swirly bokeh.

    Yes, it's a Chinese copy of a Russian copy (Helios 44) of a German lens (Zeiss Biotar)...

    Mine seems sharper at the centre wide-open than my Helios 44-2, but the edges are smeary wide-open on longer shots. Things clear up as you stop down.
