Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Actually this little guy has seen some rough times, but the glass and action is fabulous. Just picked it up at a local estate sale for $5. I do have some questions however. I'm not familiar with this Minolta MC Rokkor - PF 55mm 1.7.. It seems an odd focal length. Does anyone know much about this lens or it's performance?

I have one and find it very sharp with nice colour.

Generally these are a decent performer, better than the 50 1.7's but not as good as the 58 1.4. Overall, for $5, it is money well spent, especially if you like the view.

During this era you found many fast normal lenses for 35mm at 55-58mm.

It was a matter of the formula yielding the shortest lens that would clear the mirror box. 55mm 1.7 and 58mm 1.4 were very common.

You can do some research and get deeper into it.
