Saturday Morning Breakfast with the E-PL5

Discussion in 'Olympus Cameras' started by TDP, Nov 9, 2012.

  1. Somehow I don't think that my Weet Bix would have been quite so interesting a subject to photograph.

    It is a scallion pancake.

It is a dough with some oil and green onions, some dough is green like this, other tan. You pan fry the dough a bit on both sides and use two wooden paddles to fluff it up as you cook it. Then you remove it, throw in a scrambled egg and place the pancake on top. Wait 30 seconds, flip it over (egg side up) and add whatever meat you like and some cheese. In this case, it was bacon.

Roll it up, cut it and put some thick soy sauce and red pepper paste on top and you have one AWESOME breakfast.

I've had mine for 10 years or so, never given me any problems at all.

I'm sure your scallion pancake is delicious. But if I had to give a prize for most unappetizing looking food photograph. . .
    Buon appetito!

Odd, 葱抓饼 (Cong Zhua Bing) is probably one of my top 10 favorite foods on the planet and I'm a blue-eyed American.

Nice. How do you like the La Pavoni machine? I have an Expobar Office Lever Plus, which makes great espresso drinks. It took a while to learn how to use it of course!

I like espresso drinks enough, that I also have a Nespresso Pixie that I use as a Portable unit. It is simple and easy when you want a quick shot, or when traveling.

The Expobar is quite nice, probably the nicest semi auto single boiler machine.

I've got a coffee post here, please feel free to post away!

Ok I bit. Needed to tweak my grinder for some new Lavazza beans anyway... The Expobar does work very well. What I really I like when you have guests over is the large water tank, and that you have the ability to steam a big pitcher of milk while brewing double shots. I can make drinks pretty fast when I am motivated to. These shots were taken with the E-M5 and the Leica 45mm macro lens in aperture priority mode. Noise reduction turned off p, but IS on and me hand-holding the camera.

Pressure guage. Almost ready to brew

Tamping. I use an Espro tamper with a force sensor in it.

    Ready to brew!

    Brewing in progress

Almost done, here is the crema!

Nice shot with some gorgeous creme on top.
