Samyang/Rankinon 7.5mm 1:3.5 UMC Fish-eye MFT

    Looks very interesting, are they the same lens?

    How is the FE effect dispensed with, shooting technique or PP.

    Yes, these are the same lens. I believe it's been sold under the Samyang, Rokinon and Bower brands. For more information, details on "de-fishing" and tons of sample images, check out this thread.

    Yes, although the "R" one is spelled "Rokinon" which is the version I own.

    Thank you, but can these de-fishing effects only be achieved with PP or can shooting techniques achieve a similar thing.

    I'm used to shooting with a rectalinear Panny 7-14 but the 7.5mm FE is a much cheaper alternative.

    By their very nature, fisheye lenses distort. This effect can be minimized to a degree through shooting techniques (e.g. make sure that the horizon is level in the center of the frame), but as far as I have seen, this lens is no less "fishy" than others of its ilk.

    You'll definitely achieve a different look shooting the same scene with your P7-14 vs. the fisheye.
