    Hi folks

(hopefully I put this in the right forum!)

Just wanted to check if anyone had purchased a Samyang Fisheye from the ebay seller bestpriceoptics?

The feedback is very strong (over 6000), but the price I am being offered for this fisheye (plus posted to Oz) is well below any listed price I've seen before.

If it's too good to be true.. well, you know what they say. But there is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest it's not too good to be true!

So if you've brought from them before without hassle please share your thoughts.

    Cheers !

Just bought a fisheye lens from them on Sunday - ebay, had it delivered with their free shipping on Tuesday morning! Unbelievable. Can't ask for better than that!

i have strange experience bidding on bestpriceoptics samyang fisheye!!

t***a bidding for samyang fisheye lens at ebay.

he out bidded me on my first attempt to bid for the lens and i was later
offered a "2nd chance" by the seller.

when t***a out bidded me on the first fisheye (above), i bidded on the
an another unit where t***a placed a bid (while the above auction is not
closed). he again out bidded me (item number 350536762099). i am not
    bidding anymore...

i find this very strange... why t***a did not take the first lens? and bid
    on the second.

i hope t***a is on this forum and would kindly let me know WHY...

t***a is likely a second account of the seller. This is called shill bidding. It is the seller using an unscrupulous (and against eBay regulations) way of establishing a minimum selling price. I'd report the activity to eBay.

i have the same impression too and am not surprise that bestpriceoptics have more than just t***a.

agreed ,t***a started the bidding on 1 that is up for sale at this time

  11. I don't know why they're risking getting busted for shill bidding (which is what it looks like). They seem to have easily the cheapest price available, the starting bids are $249 and t***a seems to be always bidding around $265-270, only $20 more. If they just started the auctions at $269 I don't think the lenses would be going unsold.

Just list them for sale at $270 and why even bother with the "bidding".

I've never understood auctioning new items that are readily available.

    Interesting.

I bid on and purchased one last week on a "second offer" - I bid $259, the starting price, but was beaten by s***e at $264. I received a second offer at my original bid at $259 and took it. It was delivered within two days ($259 included free shipping).

I have received "second offers" before from vendors who have duplicate items in several auctions so I did not think twice about it. It is through eBay so all of the protections are in place. I hope they are not playing games because I feel it was a reasonable deal and would buy from them again unless they are shown to be manipulating the bidding.

Love the lens by the way - got the silver and it looks cute on my GF2.

Maybe so - but they had 350 or so ratings so it was an active account.

Plus if it was a shill bid it did not work as I got the lens at my original bid.

if t***a and s***e are bestpriceoptics, 350 or more scores is really not that
    too difficult.

if you had counter bidded on the lens, my guess is s***e will outbid you and
you will be offered the second chance to buy at the second price you bidded.
perhaps at $265 like they offered me.

in any case, i am glad for you on your recent acquisition. have fun with it and
    post some...

There is some interesting info in the user profiles - you can see how much they bid on a vendors stuff:

    s***e -> Bid activity (%) with this seller: 5%
    t***a -> Bid activity (%) with this seller: 88%

88% is sufficient to make me more than suspicious of t***a.

s***e gets a pass at this point, thought they are not completely off the hook.

happen to me too. the bidding started at 240 and then pushed up to 280. If you are located in New York or New Jersey, I would avoid the seller as you have to pay tax. Buy the rokinon version instead from Amazon for 299 avoiding the tax rate.
