My daughters favorite teddy bear that she's sleep with for the past 6 years got left out where my puppy could get a hold of it :(

After missing out on the best summer for years through being wrapped up in a major house alteration project, I was really looking forwards to a long weekend away at the coast, and yep, it rained! It rained a lot. I didn't feel comfortable testing the weather resistance of my 3 week old G80, so I left it at the hotel and carried my TG-5 instead. To say I've not used the TG-5 much is an understatement. In fact, when I removed it from it's case, I was a little surprised that it's a black one, as most of the marketing and review material I saw feature a red model, and that's how I remembered it. With my lack of experience and water drops all over the lens, many of my photos were well and truly ruined. The few that were usable (if you don't look too closely) are of a 'picture postcard perfect' little village called Cockington, which thankfully hasn't been ruined by tourists and commercialisation. My break however will be memorable for the wrong reason, the weather. At least it was quiet!

Calico, CA - near Barstow. An old mining ghost town - that has been turned into an amusement park of sorts. It certainly helped "restore" and preserve some of the buildings - but I at least felt that it sort of ruined the experience.

(We thought it was a proper ghost town when we came to visit, while we did enjoy ourselves, I am certain we would have enjoyed it a lot more if it did not become a tourist attraction).
