I was looking on the B&H website and they had the Rokinon version for preorder $299, thats a bit lower than I have found it. Now my question is that I was led to believe the Rokinon and Samyang are the same lens with a different name. Is that correct, and if not do you know what the differances are? Thanks in advance......Chris

As fa as I know, they're the same lens. Not sure if there's any difference between them. I also saw that deal and may pick it up. Waiting for them to get more in.

Amazon has them in stock for $304. If you have the Prime membership you'll get free 2 day shipping plus their easy return policy if you don't like it.

Amazon has a sale on them today (they're available for $245) for various mounts. Unfortunately, micro four thirds is not one of them. But, they have one for Olympus cameras, so if you have a 4/3rds to micro four-thirds adapter, you could get one for $245 today.

    EDIT: Here's the link:

The M43 version is super small though! I think I'd pay the extra $50 just for the size.

Ah, thanks for that. I didn't quite know the size difference :). It does make sense to spend that extra $50 for a lighter/smaller version.

Yes I'm thinking micro 4/3 version as I want to keep the package as small as possible. I do have the adaptor as i have the 4/3 14-54 mark1 and a sigma 70-200 2.8 that I don't like to use as focusing is slow to impossible.

Thinking of trying this lens during my annual trip to Tahoe and Yosemite. Something just feels right about using fishe eye in the mountains. I came across this article by Ken Rockwell: Fisheye-Hemi
If this photoshop plug-in indeed works that well, then this fish-eye lens can also be used as UWA?

Yes, they are identical except for the name on the side.

If you do a search there was a thread recently with some Samyang 7.5mm FE shots that had been de-fished using that program. Can't remember where it was posted...

Just got home, it's too dark now to test the lens but it looks very slick on E-PM1. Almost pancake, very light and compact setup.

What a difference! It is like night & day from the 8mm. It will be wider
since it's not a cropped, larger lens..

It's very small and light. Imagine Samyang relasing their infamous 85mm f1.4 for m43 with dramatic size and weight reduciton. I'm shooting with Rokinon 7.5mm today, it appears to be plenty sharp, never used fisheye or UWA before so it's a bit challenging for me to frame with it and you have to really watch out exposure/metering. IMO, AF is not at all needed for fisheye because the focus is almost always at infinity.

If you're interested, you could start taking spherical panoramic photos with your rokinon/samyang lens
