How do you link to something and then rename that link?

I don't want to display the whole link but instead hide the link in a word eg "here"

Assuming that would also work in the signature eg link to flickr without showing the whole link...?

Just highlight the word and click on the chain symbol on the menu bar, and then insert the link.

I must be missing something then. When I do that the default link pop-up window comes up but there are no options to rename the link, just add the link as is. I want to shorten the link with a word of my choosing...

I just tried it and it works. Copy the link that you want to go to, type in the word that you want to substitute for the link and highlight it, click on the chain and then paste the link into the space and click insert. The word is now the link.

Hm, doesn't seem to work for me
Or does it? Are there any links in this post? (I can't see any)
    I do exactly as described...

EDIT: ok, there is a delay for the links to show. I post and a few seconds later the links are displayed. But they don't work anyway...???

The first link doesn't work, the other two do work. I'll try out one: Lighting Rumours. Works for me.
